Environmental Technologies Offers EPA Registered Chlorine Purification Tablets
to Meet Need for Safe, Dependable Drinking Water During Hurricane and Storm
Season
EPA-approved (Reg. #35917)
Redi-Chlor tablets complement Seychelle water filtration product line and
provide relief to victims at risk of drinking water contaminated with harmful
bacteria and virus.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif., May 22,
2006 — With the
threat of another Katrina-like hurricane and storm season looming, water
concerns are at the forefront. One of the most devastating results of any
natural disaster is a lack of safe drinking water. Seychelle Environmental
Technologies, Inc. (Pink Sheets: SYEV) today announced the addition of
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-approved Redi-Chlor water purifier
tablets to its extensive water filtration product line. When used with Seychelle’s
industry-leading water filtration products, the tablets produce safe, pure and
inexpensive drinking water anytime, anywhere.
“There is a
tremendous difference between infected and disinfected water,” said Carl
Palmer, founder, president and chief executive officer of Seychelle
Environmental Technologies Inc. “Water infected with bacteria or virus can
cause a range of health issues from minor illness to acute, life-threatening
disease. The most insidious contaminants are those we can’t often detect just
by look or smell. For questionable water, filtration is not enough; the water
must be disinfected to assure that it is truly safe. Our new Redi-Chlor tablets
enable us to provide consumers, missionaries and militaries with an
inexpensive, complete water purification solution that complements our other
EPA-approved (Reg. #71426) Iodinated Resin disinfectant media.”
According
to the independent,
nonpartisan think-tank Pacific
Institute, more than 76 million people will perish from preventable water-related
disease by 2020 unless urgent action is taken
(Dirty Water: Estimated Deaths from Water-Related Diseases 2000-2020).
The report also finds that more lives are at stake from water-related disease
than the global AIDS pandemic, and children will be the primary victims. While
a global solution to the water crisis has not emerged, Seychelle offers a
solution that individuals can use to protect themselves today.
By using
Redi-Chlor tablets in combination with Seychelle water filtration products,
source water is purified, leaving the consumer with safe, great-tasting
drinking water with no chlorine aftertaste.
U.S.-made
Redi-Chlor tablets are comprised of dry chlorine that is registered with the
EPA for use in disinfecting drinking water. Each Redi-Chlor tablet is
designed to disinfect up to 5 gallons of water. The tablets can be used
across Seychelle’s line of countertop, in-line, pitcher, portable and pump
filtration products because they are double-scored to enable consumers to split
the tablets to disinfect smaller quantities of water. With as little as
one-eighth of a tablet, consumers can disinfect up to 1.5 gallons of water for
mere pennies.
Redi-Chlor
tablets are individually sealed, and a box of 30, purifying up to 150 gallons
of water, retails for $6.95. They are now available through dealers,
distributors and www.seychelle.com.
